TASTING NOTES
95pts - Decanter
"This Asili is a bracing Barbaresco of rare savouriness. Do not be deceived by the extremely pale ruby colour and the reserved nose. Aromas of rhubarb, whiffs of wild fowl, balsamic minerality and Parma violets are followed in the mouth by a firm, velvety attack of peony and earthy strawberry. It has integrated racy acidity and a savoury liquorice finish, with the grip of Nebbiolo. Great hallmark Asili."
91pts - James Suckling
"Aromas of tar, bark and other terroir-like notes prevail, with some wild strawberry. Medium body with sweet fruit in the center-palate and a chewy finish. Plummy, dark-chocolate and cedar aftertaste. Drink or hold."
91pts - Wine Advocate
"With fruit from the village of Barbaresco, this is a lean and translucent wine with bright ruby and garnet highlights. The bouquet of the Carlo Giacosa 2018 Barbaresco Asili shows ripe fruit, with earthy notes, licorice and crushed flowers. It's all pretty standard for an Asili with a classic but accessible window onto the elegance of the site. This was a release of 1,904 bottles."
90pts - Wine & Spirits
"The Giacosa family (unrelated to Bruno Giacosa) farms 12 acres of vines around the village of Barbaresco and makes just 160 cases of this wine. It offers fleshy red-cherry flavors balanced by notes of warm spice and orange tea."
