Coste della Sesia, Piedmont, Italy
70% Nebbiolo, 15% Croatina & 15% Vespolina
300 million years ago a volcano created the raw material for seven tiny but geographically complex appellations collectively known as Alto Piemonte. Located about two hours North-northeast of Barolo and Barbaresco, this appellation is literally at the ‘foot’ of the Alps. After years of abandon, this once great bastion of Italian wines is now being resurrected by a few key producers. This silky, seductive wine showcases the newly revitalized region as it entices your nostrils with cassis, plum, and clove. Flavors of violet, anise, and cherry play on your palate, making this a perfect partner with a Kale and Feta salad, roast prime rib, or mushroom pizza.
