A golden-amber, medium-bodied rum with a vanilla bouquet. The 4 Year-Old Flor de Caña Gold is excellent with soda and colas, and a perfect match for punches and light cocktails. Palate: A soft entry leads to a round, dry, medium-bodied palate with caramel, sugar cane, and peppery spice flavors. Finishes with a dash of toasted coconut shavings and pepper. Owney's is named after a prolific rum runner and Hell's Kitchen gangster who popularized rum around NYC during the Prohibition era. This one is made by Bridget Firtle, native New Yorker and one of only a handful of female distillers out there. This rum is soft and delicately sweet with a nice pepper and baking spice punch and a little tropical banana flavors rounding it out on the finish. It's great to use in any rum cocktail, but we think it can also be enjoyed on it's own over ice with a twist of lime or a sprig of mint. The sugar cane molasses used in making this rum is an all-natural, non-GMO, grade A batched product from independent sugar cane plantations in Florida and Louisiana. During distillation in the custom hybrid copper pot column still, both the head and tail of the batch are cut, and only the heart of the run makes it into the bottle. The heart is then blended using only NYC tap water, making this a truly native product. All the finishing touches are then done by hand onsite, from corking, labeling, boxing, to packing.
