TASTING NOTES
‘L'Arpent Oublie,’ meaning ‘the forgotten acre,’ was made by siblings Marie and Simon Normand using the Pinot Blanc grape, which is very rare in Champagne. Together, the two focus on protecting the biodiversity and health of the 11 hectares of vineyards and surrounding environment, in part by planting over 1300 trees and never using herbicides or insecticides. Their continuing efforts focus on limiting the impact on the land with careful water resource and energy management, highlighted by their participation in the Haute Valeur Environmententale and Viticulture Durable en Champagne. This lovely sparkler has floral and fruity aromas of wildflowers, white peach and shaved almond leading to notes of buttered toast, lemon verbena, Pink Lady apple and a hint of flint on the palate. It is crisp and clean supported by fresh mineral acidity with a subtle saline finish and a fleshy citrusy texture. This dry, expressive Champagne would be an elegant pairing to anything from the sea.
