Taking craftsmanship to the highest levels of excellence, Frapin’s style embodies the very essence of Cognac. The whole estate, including 240ha of vineyards, lies in the Grande Champagne area which is regarded as Cognac’s best appellation. Still in original family ownership, the family can trace their vine growing and distilling history back to 1270. Frapin combines the knowledge with well-established methods passed down through the generations to hand-craft cognacs that are exclusively harvested, distilled and aged on their estate.

On the nose, its aromas of vine flowers and linden with a melted vanilla touch, due to aging in Limousin barrels, demonstrate a great aromatic richness, characteristic of a fine cognac. Harmonious and balanced, it has an aromatic refinement with dried orange peel, baked apple, toasted nuts and a spicy finish with notes of cinnamon or pepper. Its length on the palate is attributed to a special distillation on fine lees, with slightly vanilla or toasted bread aromas.

For our pairings with the following dishes, we place the Frapin VSOP carafe in the freezer for two days. With the cold, an alchemy occurs; our VSOP cognac thickens, its aromas become concentrated, and it achieves great softness. Once at the table, the carafe and cognac warm up, and its subtle aromas gradually reveal themselves, all in gentleness. Here are a few examples of successful pairings: – Pan-seared foie gras with spiced bitter orange sauce, duck jus with Nepalese pepper – Duck foie gras compression with potato and artichoke, smoked duck breast – Fresh and marinated salmon tartare, herb salad – Smoked sea bass with herring caviar cream – Tomato gazpacho with langoustines, flavored oil.
