TASTING NOTES
A touch of recalcitrant weather, heroic viticulturists, and winemakers summoning up all their techne only begin to describe the dramatic 2011 growing season. In years such as these, sites with perfect drainage and optimal exposure speak volumes. The 2011 Gallica Cabernet bottling is stylish, serious, and aromatically expressive. Tannins are remarkably fine. The elevated Oakville site performed beautifully, favoring notes of crushed rock, exotic cardamom, and the enticing perfume of oolong tea. The modest addition of Petit Verdot offers its usual signature of fresh flowers and vibrant color. -Winemaker's Notes     251 cases made.

94pts -Antonio Galloni
"The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is drop-dead gorgeous. Floral and expressive, the 2011 graces the palate with savory herbs, mint, red berries and flowers. The 2011 is all about nuance, complexity and understatement. The style is bright, high-toned and distinctly mineral, which is to say totally different from the richer, bigger 2010, but equally compelling. Rosemary Cakebread did a fabulous job with her 2011. The 2011 is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, mostly from Oakville and St. Helena. The Petit Verdot is from a site in Coombsville. In 2011, Cakebread took the wine off the skins earlier than normal and used a little less new oak than is typically the case. Drink: 2014-2026."

92pts -James Suckling
"A red with a dusty and blackberry character. Full body with integrated tannins and a clean finish. Cool, hipster Cab for the vintage. Drink now."
