TASTING NOTES
The grapes for Zweigelt Eiswein grow on our most northern site called Hiesberg about 400m above sea level. In total, we were 18 people who harvested on 29th of November 2018 the frozen grapes at minus 8°Celsius (-17,6°Fahrenheit). After a slowly spontaneous fermentation, the wine was racked in small used oak barrels to ripen until January 2020. Then the Eiswein was bottled unfiltered and with a little addition of sulphur to avoid a second fermentation in the bottle. The Zweigelt Eiswein 2018 is a sweet but spicy and mineral dessert wine with a nice rosé colour. It is a good companion to chocolate desserts as well as blue cheese. -Winemaker's Notes
96pts - Wine Enthusiast
"The lovely, warm and bitter scent of plum skin baked in a tart fills the nose with promise. The palate continues this rich plum theme but adds the essential purity of eiswein to it, that acidic thrill of freshness that keeps every nuance of flavor pristine. This wine is pure and sweet but pristine and so measured. Hints of chocolate surround those sultry plum notes that leave an endless echo."
