TASTING NOTES
Piedrasassi was founded in 2003 by husband and wife team, Sashi and Melissa Moorman, in Lompac, California. The focus of Piedrasassi’s wine program is cool climate Syrah. They believe that good Syrah can be made at many sites in Santa Barbara County, but it is at the cool climate sites that Syrah is at its most compelling; producing the most complex aromas and the most savory textures. The PS has aromas of ripe fig, black pepper and olive jostling in the glass while flavors of plum, cassis, black cherry, cured meat and savory herbs roll across the palate. It has a persistent and lingering finish and will be tasty with Carolina pulled pork, a pear and gorgonzola pizza or a rosemary roasted leg of lamb.

92pts - Wine Advocate
"The 2021 Syrah Santa Barbara County is scented of black raspberries, candied blackberries, cracked pepper, smoked meats and green olive. The medium-bodied palate is bright and chalky with restrained yet nuanced fruit and a long, latent finish. I would be inclined to drink it on the earlier side after a couple hours in a decanter, and its freshness will allow it to pair widely at the table."

91pts - Vinous
"The 2021 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is fabulous. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, black pepper, herbs, incense and tobacco all build in this racy, almost shockingly opulent young Syrah. This dense, juicy Syrah is lights out. The 30% stems are pretty much buried by the fruit."
