TASTING NOTES
Cesanese d’Affile thrives in the red, volcanic hills of Olevano Romano, a commune just southeast of Rome by about 25 miles. It is an indigenous grape and almost exclusively grown in Lazio and dates back to the Etruscans (900 BC) and possibly further.
The Collepazzo has an herbal-tinged flavor profile driven by its terroir composed of sandstone and reddish volcanic soil. It's savory with an herbaceous nose full of spicy, dark fruit scents. Plum, black cherry and dried herbs combine with floral aromas of violet and spice with a lingering olive finish. Enjoy this hearty red with garlic and rosemary lamb chops, pasta puttanesca or a Mediterranean pizza.
