TASTING NOTES
The second wine of Chateau Suduiraut - Castelnau de Suduiraut is a wine with a distinctive character for which the groundwork is prepared far in advance, even down to the choice of specific plots to give it its own unique identity. Made from portions of the harvest that are expressive earlier than those used for Château Suduiraut, this wine with aromas of candied yellow fruit, quince, frangipani, mild spices and a hint of minerality is more approachable when young in terms of tasting than its elder. Aged in new and used barrels for 16 to 18 months. -Winemaker's Notes
93pts - James Suckling
"Subtle cream, spices, honey, lemons, jackfruit and pineapple on the nose. A hint of white mushrooms, too. Medium-bodied with balanced sweetness and unctuousness. Long finish of honeyed tropical fruit. Drink now or hold."
90pts - Wine Advocate
"Gently introverted at first, the 2023 Castelnau de Suduiraut opens gradually in the glass, revealing aromas of mango, exotic fruits and flowers. Moderately weighted, round and juicy, it is seamless and well balanced, built around a vibrant core of fruit with commendable depth for the cuvée. This is a distinctly expressive Sauternes and an inviting introduction to the appellation."
