TASTING NOTES
Domaine Les Aphillanthes set in the commune of Travaillan, just northwest of Gigondas, is led by grower and winemaker Daniel Boulle and his wife Helene. His approach is to focus on the quality of the fruit in the vineyards while practicing minimal intervention in the winery. This lovely red sings with deep blackberry fruit, spiced red currant, anise, violet and hints of garrigue. Aged in cement, it has a beautiful balance between terroir and fruit and begs for roasted duck or Coq au vin.

"A blend of 60% Grenache and 20% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2022 Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu Cuvee des Galets spent only eight months in concrete prior to bottling. Scents of sunbaked stones, dried herbes de Provence and black cherries are joined by a charming hint of licorice on the nose. Full-bodied, velvety textured and long on the finish, it's a beauty to enjoy over the next several years."
