Mencia & Alicante Bouschet
Mencía, say it with me now, ("Men-thee-ah") yes, very good. Mencía is a Spanish grape that finds its home in northwestern Spain and some areas of Portugal. Winemaker, Gregory Perez, has a true love for this grape and strives to showcase its delicate beauty and savory qualities. After graduating from Blanquefort Bordeaux´s School of Enology and Viticulture in 1998, Gregory's Spanish roots and a friends encouragement brought him back to Spain. This wine reveals a sultry nose of stewed plums, tobacco smoke and strawberry jam cascading into flavors of blackberry, inky cherries and slight topsoil. The Brezo is a delicous wine that can be shared over pastrami sandwiches in the park.
