Before vermouth & amaro, there was rosolio. Enjoyed as the main drink by the 18th century King of Savoia, the ingredients for rosolio are harvested early in the morning to when flavor concentration is at its peak. It fell out of fashion but Giuseppe Gallo has brought it back to the forefront, sourcing ingredients from across Italy to encapsulate the flavors and creativity of his country in liquid form. The bergamot, a green-yellow rinded citrus most similar to an orange, is harvested from a UNESCO protected area of Calabria. Use Italicus in a spritz, negroni bianco, or in place of any citrus liqueur for a refreshing citrus zing.
