Viré-Clessé, Burgundy, France
88-89pts -Wine Advocate
"The 2016 Vire Clesse, which had not been racked, was slightly reduced when I tasted it from barrel. It was reticent on the nose with just a light marine influence. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, vibrant, with better tension and weight on the finish compared to the 2015 Viré-Clessé, so there is a good chance that it may surpass the previous vintage."
92pts - Wine Spectator
"Intense lemon, apple, nut oil, mineral and spice flavors take on a textural edge in this white that's creamy midpalate, finishing smooth and long. Drink now through 2024. 1,800 cases made”
88-91pts - Burghound
"This too exhibits enough reduction to render the nose difficult to evaluate. More obviously mineral-driven middle weight flavors possess both excellent detail and intensity while coating the palate with sappy dry extract on the wonderfully refreshing, dry and focused finale. This is a fine effort for the appellation."
