Oltretorrente is a husband and wife team that was started in 2010 in the sleepy village of Paderna, set in the hills of the Tortona region (Colli Tortonesi) in southeast Piedmont. They farm organically, but use some biodynamic methods with vines ranging from 15 to 100 years old.
TheirTimorasso has an expressive nose of ripe peach, chestnut honey, beeswax and yellow wildflowers. It offers a supple, almost waxy texture that carries rich stone fruit and citrus zest over a savory, chalky mineral backbone with racyacidity. The textural depth of this white stands up well to creamy rice dishes such as seafood risotto or butter-poached langoustines.
