New York's forgotten heirloom grape variety - this is DeChaunac, a deep purple French-American hybrid variety that has been pressed on Cabernet Franc skins. Serving up a light, chillable red with 9.5% ABV, it has exuberant plum aromas with the fresh herbal edge of a classic Loire style red. "Winemaker Ben Riccardi made four versions of this hybrid variety in 2023. “Bici” is the richest, while remaining mid-weight and refreshing. Enticing aromas of juicy cran-blueberry fruit and purple florals are woven with fistfuls of peppery spice and bay leaf. In typical hybrid fashion, acidity is mouth-puckering, but the succulent fruit is prominent enough to temper it. Tannins are tucked in the folds so as not to disturb the balance. Shows transparency of place and variety."
