Passerina is an ancient native grape found primarily in the Marche region of Central Italy, nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The name Passerina comes from the Italian word, passero, meaning sparrow. This grape was named after the birds, in reference to the birds’ appetite for snacking on the grapes. Bright, cheerful and easy to drink, this crisp white has an aromatic profile with notes of jasmine and citrus, followed by flavors of sliced green apple, a hint of melon, ripe yellow fruit and delicate herbs. Sip this with fresh salads, light seafood preparations or just on its own.
