Salento, Puglia, Italy
In the southernmost part of the heel of the "Italian boot", otherwise known as the Salento Peninsula of the Puglia region, the Perrini family has been growing grapes and making wine for generations. The farming is certified organic and the fruit is harvested by hand. Here you will find an herbaceous nose full of wild, dark forest fruits. The palate unwinds with black cherry fruit, cassis, licorice, cinnamon and Mediterranean herbs ending with some firm tannins and a herbal edge. This Negroamaro will go nicely with a Puglian plate of Calabrese salami, Caciocavallo cheese and fresh burrata.
