TASTING NOTES
Racines is a collaboration by two classic houses from France, led by Etienne de Montille and Brian Sieve of Burgundy and Rodolphe Peters of Champagne. The team came together to join their individual experiences in hand-crafting wines of purity and transparency to create a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cool climate of the Sta. Rita Hills in California.
93pts - Wine Spectator
“Its weightlessness gives this Chardonnay an ethereal, delicate nature, with a fresh edge of acidity to the apple, Bosc pear and quince flavors, all accented by notes of ginseng, white tea and coriander. Remains detailed and effortless on the long finish. Drink now through 2036. 620 cases made.”
93pts - Wine Enthusiast
"There's a mineral streak of struck stone and wispy ash on the flinty nose of this bottling, which also offers aromas of lemon peel. The palate's stony backbone frames flavors of apricot and ripe lemon."
92pts - Vinous
"The 2023 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is tense, driven and savory, with a gently twinkle of flinty reduction and a pithy, linear core. Done entirely in stainless steel, the 2023 is all nerve and energy, bound up like a ball of rubber bands and bursting at the seams as it delivers citrus, spice and chalk. It's so dynamic and complete for a wine at thie entry-level price point."
