In this small, steeply-terraced valley close to the Slovenian border, Paolo and Dina Rapuzzi managed to find 60 surviving vines of Schoppettino, an indigenous grape that was thought to be extinct after phylloxera swept through Europe. This young and fresh version of Schioppettino bursts with juicy red currants and wild berries, and finishes floral and spicy with refreshing acidity and fine tannins. A joy for wine connoisseurs and novices alike, pair this alongside roasted duck breast or a truffle pecorino.
