Vipava Valley, Dornberk, Slovenia
Look! Is it a Rosé? Is it an Orange wine? We do not know what to call it but it sure is delicious. This family winery run by the Vodopivec's date as far back as the year 1769. At that time, the house was named the Slavčevih (Nightingale) hence the bird on the label. With a little skin contact and a lot of love this bird is worth trying. The nose will be very curious by the wafting hints of grapefruit, vanilla and white flowers. The palate will surely denote elements of almonds, stone fruits and a kiss of sea salt. Pair this mysterious wine with chicken picatta, salmon beurre blanc, or oysters Rockefeller.
