We implore you not to let this wine sail by. Though it remains under the radar in the U.S., País is one of South America’s oldest grape varieties, with roots tracing back to the 16th century. Winemaker Matías Michelini focuses on crafting expressive, experimental wines that capture the character of this cooler-climate region at the base of the Andes. The wine opens with an alluring bouquet of wisteria, freshly turned earth and bright red berries, unfolding into vibrant flavors of raspberry, sage, and a subtle hint of grapefruit zest on the palate. Pair this chillable red with empanadas, chicken taquitos, or chili dogs.
