TASTING NOTES
Susumaniello is a red grape variety native to Puglia in Southern Italy. The name comes from the local dialect expression for the Italian word somarello, or donkey which was used to carry the heavy loads of grapes from harvest. This red opens with aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and blackberries with a spicy nuance. Lush plum and cherry fruit melds with mild white pepper and deep forest herbs with a touch of vanilla on the palate. It is ideal for pairing with dishes rich in flavors, such as roasted red meats, game-based dishes, or aged cheeses.
