TASTING NOTES
Mencía, say it with me now, ("Men-thee-ah") yes, very good. Mencía is a Spanish grape that finds its home in northwestern Spain and some areas of Portugal. Winemaker, Gregory Perez, has a true love for this grape and strives to showcase its delicate beauty and savory qualities. After graduating from Blanquefort Bordeaux´s School of Enology and Viticulture in 1998, Gregory's Spanish roots and a friend's encouragement brought him back to Spain. This wine reveals a sultry nose of flowery aromas, pomegranate and strawberry jam cascading into flavors of peppered blackberry, red currant and slight topsoil with fine tannin. Brezo Tinto is a fresh, ripe, floral, and spicy red wine to pair with meats of all kinds, especially sausages, game, and pork dishes.
